Democracy is Power is part of Amplifier Foundation Power to the Polls campaign. One year after the historic Women’s March on Washington, Amplifier and the Women’s March teamed up with partners across the country to channel energy and activism into tangible results in the 2018 midterm elections. They invited female-identifying and gender non-conforming residents of the United States to submit their artwork to Power to the Polls for a national voter-registration drive and traveling art exhibition.
A twelve-person curatorial team which included #ShepardFairey and #AmericaFerrera, reviewed over 3,000 submissions and selected 50 artworks meant to energize swing-state voters, inspiring them to take to the polls and elect leaders who reflect American majority values.
“The Power to the Polls campaign is meant to keep the momentum from the Women’s March going all the way to the voting booth. In 2018, during their voter registration tour, the Women’s March organizers partnered up with Amplifier to create artwork encouraging civic engagement. We held an open call for submissions from female and nonbinary-identifying artists in the United States and received over 3,000 entries. Fifty of those pieces, selected by a 12-person committee, are currently being distributed as free art giveaways, ad takeovers, and wheat and paste campaigns nationwide. Our goal is to encourage people to exercise their right to vote and elect representatives who will stand up for them” –Amplifier Foundation

One year after the historic Women’s March on Washington, Amplifier and the Women’s March teamed up with partners across the country to channel energy and activism into tangible results in the 2018 midterm elections.
From an open call, a twelve-person curatorial team selected 50 works meant to energize swing-state voters, and inspire them to take to the polls and elect leaders who reflect American majority values. Amplifier printed more than 20,000 posters of the selected work, and distributed them for free to community partner events focused on civic engagement and democracy in over 30 cities and 20 different states nationwide. The images have also been wheat pasted in the streets, and distributed as bus shelter ad takeovers and massive installations. All of the images from the campaign are available for free download on amplifier.org.
